It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Fall :)

I love everything about it campfires, football season, holidays, Northface jackets, hot chocolate, movies, the smell of burning leaves, scarves, the list goes on.. and on...

My diet has been an absolute bust. It is so hard to be mindful, and keep focused when you just want to relax and enjoy the company of your husband, and all of the dinner dates, and desserts that come along with it!

We were going to go to a college football game this weekend, but have decided to park our rumps on the couch, and just watch it on the tube. GO TEAM!

The No Good, Terrible, Bad Day..

And no I am not talking about the children's book. Today was just plain sucky.

Work sucked. Period. The End.

I am not even going to talk about it. Which is standard "me" I don't like to voice how I am feeling if it isn't nice or positive. Which I guess isn't a bad thing...see, there is a positive :)

So, I cured treated myself to a nice dinner by myself which included two sushi rolls, and a big glass of Japanese plum wine. Then I drove straight over to my favorite spa, and sat down to the entire place to myself--which meant two...yes, I said two ladies that gave me the best pedicure and manicure I have ever had--and I didn't have to listen to "chatty cathy" or "sister susie" yapping at an obnoxious vocal level.

Now its time to log onto my pinterest account. no more thinking needed...

Goodnight :)

Sushi Salad.."You'll have some!"

"You'll have some!" is one of the phrases I say the most-especially to my husband. It is from the movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Angelina Jolie is dishing out some green beans and she asks Brad Pitt if he would like any, and he says "No, thanks." So she scoops some out, and puts it on his plate, and says, "You'll have some." Hilarious. We both say this, and its pretty funny when we do it.

Anyways, back to the recipe of the day...

Who doesn't love sushi? It is the best.. It is delicious, filling, and so pretty! I have enjoyed wedded bliss for the past 3 months, and honey its been great, but you know what is creeping on..:

Oh the sacrifice of being plump happy

Anyways, so I started today doing what I did before the big day! Low carb-pros for me: totally takes away any craving for anything because its so strict, and once your body gets used to not having sugar, flour-it stops wanting it..con-can we say cranky!  Then I transfer to something healthy-basically it just helps keep my appetite in check!

This being said, I have enjoyed sushi at least once a week all summer long! Guess what, no sushi on low carb. So I searched and searched and found this recipe for sushi salad: california roll style :)

I am going to post the recipe that I found, expect I omitted the rice and the sugar.

California Roll Style Salad

  • 1/2 cup uncooked white rice
  • 1 cup water
  •
  • 1 small head iceberg lettuce, shredded
  • 1 English cucumber, cut into 1 inch strips
  • 2 avocados - peeled, pitted, and cubed
  • 2 cups shredded imitation crabmeat
  •
  • 2 teaspoons wasabi powder, or to taste
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Cook Rice--set aside. Shred lettuce, cut cucumber, cut avocado, shred crabmeat-combine. Then combine the wasabi, mayo, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, and sesame oil-Toss everything together and serve!

Enjoy!!

ps-at this point in my blog-I know that I am writing for myself..no biggie..very therapeutic, and maybe it will keep me accountable for my eating healthier!

The Hair Product I CANNOT live without!!!

I absolutely cannot live without Bumble and Bumble Styling Lotion. A few years ago, I decided to cut my long hair (halfway down my back) to a chic Katie Holmes swing bob. Boy, was it so cute, I missed my long hair, but at the time I needed a change. All I knew about hairstyling at the time was flip my head over, take a paddle brush, and with a brush/blow-dry combination I was all set. Have you ever done this? Have you ever done this with a short bob hair cut? Not so pretty in fact...its hideous! So, I had to learn to style my hair. Round brush, products, and all..

Like all daughters do..it is our right to peruse through our Mom's endless supply of lotions, hair potions, makeup, perfume, need I go on? In fact, it always seemed like my Mother's products were so much better than mine.. even if I went out and bought it myself. Let's face it...there is only so many swipes of this, and borrowed glops of that you can get by with without being caught on to. Then I found this wonderful bottle of Bumble and Bumble Styling Lotion. :::::the angels are singing:::::: With a quick spritz on my damp hair-my hair is smooth, manageable, and so easy to style! Let me say that my mom has thin hair and I have thick course hair so its great for both!

Let me add that the price of this little bottle ($24 for 8 oz) It is 100% worth it!
There are also smaller travel size bottles which run about $8 for 2 oz.

Before it was sold outside the salon-or that was the case in my small town. There was only one salon in town(to my knowledge) that used and sold the products. Then I made the A-MAZING discovery, and of course they would have it because it is the best store ever. Target started carrying Bumble and Bumble!! Then a few months ago right before my trip to Mexico, I ran by Wal-Mart to get a few things before we left for our honeymoon, and there laying in the travel bins was my styling spray! Everyone is obviously seeing how amazing this is!

Enough with my excitement-at least pick up the small size, and get to testing. You will love it!
Here is the link below for the bumble and bumble website. When I went to it I saw they were advertising  free shipping with the product code: BLOWDRY

I am going to order some new products now..

ps-remember that Target and Wal-Mart both carry this!

*I have not been asked to endorse this product nor did I receive any free merchandise or money to do so..it is just my own opinion :)

Why I started a blog...

I am an avid blog reader. I browse around blogs everyday. They range from people I went to school with, people linked to those people, health inspired, cooking inspired, and more. The position in the community that these bloggers are in is astounding. There are product reviews, personal testimonies, DIY projects (Do-It-Yourself) creative recipes, and sometimes just an account of what happened in their life that day. It is funny, helpful, and by all means addictive, as you all know.

So, without further adieu--I am a blogger for your entertainment and mine!

Enjoy!
